As we enter old age, our health needs extra care and attention if we are to continue to experience quality of life. However, no matter what care we give our bodies, they will continue to age and our health to eventually, deteriorate. I’m not afraid of dying but I do fear the process of dying. Because of the inevitability of our eventual death, I believe, that taking extra care with our spiritual health is vital. If we are spiritually depleted, we will not have the strength that we need to face our golden years. We need that power which is eternal and unseen to endure our own physical crumbling.
I am no one special. I’m just an everyday grandma with no special degrees to qualify me. I have studied the Bible for 33 years and have taught both children and adults in Sunday School. I love Jesus and I know what it is like to have my health crumble. I struggled with ill-health for most of my life. Jesus was with me during that entire struggle. He never left me no matter how dark of a future my doctors painted for me. I have faced my mortality more than once and He was right there with me. At the age of fifty-five, I am healthier than I have been in decades. I now desire to share what I have learned through my struggles with others who are now experiencing the same suffering that I was able to endure.
I am a Christian and I can only speak of, Jesus with any kind of authority. However, I don’t intend this to be a site for only Christians. All baby boomers are welcome here. Even younger wannabe boomers are invited to read and share at this website. If your views are different from mine, feel free to express them with respect and I will receive them with respect. I will never pretend to have all of the answers that you need but I am hopeful that you will be able to find the support and spiritual encouragement that you need in maintaining your own spiritual health. As you read my words, take what is useful to you and throw the rest away.

Thank you Pam for the invitation to your web site. What a comfort to hear you speak so clearly and confidently about your faith in the Lord Jesus. He is my Lord and God also. The One who gifted me with life with my particular parents and then assured me of eternal life in the hereafter. I have been a commited believer for a long time.
He too has seen me through a series of health crises which became critical over the last eleven years. The losses I have experienced in every area of my life because my health bottomed out are many. I am glad to report that as of the last couple of weeks I finally feel like I may have turned a corner in my health and that what I and others have been praying for me may be taking place in terms of both physical and emotional restoration. Perhaps I may share with you a powerful scriptural insight I recently understood and believed in my heart. The cross of Jesus and what He accomplished for us through His the suffering of His death, burial and ressurection is central to my faith. What I have come recently to believe is that my ultimate joy and happiness is directly related to that event. So even though my day to day realities may be less than stellar, I need only to remind myself that He took my place so I could go free. This truth is an immediate and endless source of joy for me at this time in my life. The Bible tells us that Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before Him. His joy was to expand the family of God and to purchase Sons and Daughters for Father God and His self. He took upon Himself all of our pain, misery confusion and struggle. His joy is to shower us with the blessings of Truth and Life. My joy is to accept His gift of Life, His sacrifice and the shedding of His blood for me so that I might be restored emotionally and physically and fully liberated from the internal wounds of the dear injured girl within. So despite the inner misery I have endured throughout my life as a wounded one in search of healing I can have joy in the fact that He loves me and has made a way for healing. The journey for me is a mysterious one full of ups and downs with curves and swerves in the road. What Jesus purchased for me at the cross is my ultimate hope and joy and inspires me to worship the true Lover of my soul. Thank you Pam for providing an outlet to share my joy openly. I so often feel constricted because the name of Jesus seems to be trivial if not abhorrent to so many in today’s world. I rejoice with you in our faith and may the blessing of Our Lord continue to be upon you and those you love. Thank you also for the love you demonstrate through this site and your compassionate availability to others like myself who are acquainted with ill health and the depths of emotional suffering. May we in Jesus’ name be agents to relieve the suffering of those in our midst.
Laura,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a deep, beautiful comment. I know that over time, this comment will bless countless others and not only me. I too have lived a life of suffering that is also a blessed life. Jesus takes everything bad meant for my destruction and works it to my good. The sweetest revelations of Jesus have come through times of intense suffering. I know when I suffer, I only taste a small amount of what He endured so that He could give us eternal life. Not only did He die for us but He lives for us and every day, I need that ressurection power.
I know what you mean about the name of Jesus. I often have to bridle myself when I write for others so here, I speak openly. The battles I go through to do so…it seems that the whole web is set up to block out any mention of Jesus name. Word of mouth beats any technology though and I hope that eventually, this will be a place where those who love Jesus and those who need Him will meet. I hope to see you here often and to read more of your heartfelt comments. I need them and lots of prayer. I will pray for you also, Laura. We have much in common and we’ve only just met.
Love,
Pam
Thank you Pam for your kind words and thank you for your courage to overcome the obstacles you speak of here. May you receive all the courage and strength, and wisdom you need for your life in every area. Prayer is our lifeline I believe. Thank you for your invitation to pray for you and your offer to pray for me. I too cherish your prayers and those of others. Yes, I thank our God that the hope of Glory dwells within us. Just another expression of His commitment and love that He would choose to live within us to claim us for His own. Thank you Lord Jesus for the ressurection life and power that dwells within. May we grow in our love and knowledge of you as the days go by. Thank you for a new friend in Pam and may your will be done here on earth as it is in heaven and may Pam’s heart’s desires be fulfilled as she seeks to glorify you in offering herself to others here and elsewhere.
Laura,
Wow! How could I ever fail with that kind of power behind me! Thank you, Laura.

Pam
I LOVE this exchange between you two, and I completely agree! I only just gave my life to Jesus in the last few months, but since first discovering Him a few years ago, I have always loved talking about Him. I think He has been calling me for a very long time. I am so proud to talk about Him and talking about Him openly is very important. He even said so himself as recorded in the gospels! Please don’t bridle yourself whenever possible, dear Pam. I wish more people had been talking about Jesus to me throughout my life (the REAL Jesus, not the religious symbol).
May God richly bless you both,
Bree
Bree,
Speak freely of, Jesus here! I’d love to have you talk about Him in the comments! On Boomer Back-Beat, I focus on sharing how, Jesus works in my life and not on theology or dogma. The living Jesus is a real person Who always meets me where the rubber meets the road in my life. Jesus is my strength and He has empowered me to overcome so many things. I know He can do the same for others. There is power in the Name of Jesus! As believers, we are strengthened when we share Him with each other and the world.
Welcome to Boomer Back-Beat, Bree! I hope to meet you here often!
Love,
Pam
Yay for the living Lord! In the past few months, I’ve read countless testimonies of people who have met him in visions, in their sleep, or in near-death experiences. It’s amazing! I will happily join in on comments. I currently spend all my time reading the Bible, reading about the Bible, reading testimonies, and doing a Bible study for emotional healing. I am living proof of the strengthening power of God’s Word. I tried many, many things before committing my life to Christ, and although some were quite helpful, nothing compares to the healing power of GOD!
So much LOVE,
Bree
Bree, No, there is no one like, Jesus! However, someday, we will be just like Him…that’s healing and way beyond, that’s total transformation! I hope you will share the things you are learning with me and my readers. I’d love for more of a forum to develop here. Believers need each other, a cold burning all alone just can’t produce the same amount of heat and light as many coals burning together! My husband says that if we get on fire for the Lord then the people will gather if for nothing else but to watch us burn!lol! He’s goofy but it’s a good thing to burn brightly for, Jesus!
Love,
Pam
Awww, your husband sounds awesome! I totally agree that we are meant to burn brightly for Jesus and the Father, and we believers definitely need one another! Luckily, we always have the Holy Spirit too to help guide us.
LOVE,
Bree
