If you are a worrier then you don’t have to look very hard to find fodder for anxiety. We are living in a time when people all over the world are fearful as to what appears to be coming upon us. The global economy is structured in a co-dependent fashion. The reasoning behind building such an economy was that of assured mutual destruction and the idea that it would promote peace. However, co-dependency is an unhealthy state as its members don’t operate from a positions of self-sustaining health. Every country within the G20 is dependent upon the other countries for survival and we are all dependent upon the Middle East for the oil that drives our economy. The recent debt crisis seems but a precursor for an impending global crash of the economy. This leaves many of us wondering what kind of world we will leave our children.
Thinkers often attach the song “Imagine” by the Beatles, to the shadow global government that is gaining greater control over our lives every day. Those who dreamed of a One World Government are seeing their dreams come true. Their view is a socialist view of how government should operate. It is the same central planning form of government that has been tried before (and failed)but the power of central planning is seated in the U.N. and not within individual countries. The people of the world, including the U.S., are not allowed to vote for representation in the U.N. Instead, it is made up of appointees by the political elites. This new form of government has an easily definable ruling class.
In America, many of us view ourselves as a free nation but our freedoms have been greatly eroded over time and that erosion is now at a quickening pace. Individual states within the U.S. are much less powerful than they were when we baby boomers were children. Many of us are not even aware of what our local governments are doing. The power and the focus is now on Washington D.C. and they hold their power over the states through the distribution of funds to those states that comply with their demands. Washington creates mandates that the states must abide by and pay for. With a central government that is remote to most people living in the U.S., we are losing more and more of our power to choose every day. We have lost the ability to hold those who represent us responsible and the result is a ruling class in a country founded on individual choice. We who live in the land of the free are much less free than ever in the history of our country.
Capitalism and free markets have made the U.S. the most prosperous nation in history. We enjoy living standards envied by people all over the world but I am afraid that may be coming to an end. We now live in a socialized democracy with a blend of socialism and free markets. However, our free markets are threatened as the environment for small businesses to start and grow is becoming toxic. We are moving away from free markets toward markets controlled by large corporations who enjoy political favor from whom ever they have put in office. This is bordering on fascism. Many small businesses in this current economy, must contract work with corporations or the government to survive. There is very little going on within the traditional American free market place. When ever there is a shift from left to right or visa versa, there is a shift in which corporations are in position to acquire the most political favor. Under Bush, the oil companies had greater favor. Under Obama, G.E. now runs the show.
Our money is nothing but paper and soon, I believe, our paper will be replaced with a card. Our money will be digitized and the government will be able to track every dollar we spend. This also did not happen over night but over a long period of time. The Federal Reserve gained power through stealth early in the last century and today, they control all of our money. If you think there is gold in Fort Knox, you are sadly mistaken. It has all been moved to the Federal Reserve. Since the “bail-outs”, the Federal Reserve has been printing money at an astronomical pace. It is a good thing that the banks are sitting on this money or we would experience inflation as it has never been experienced before. If the dollar loses its global status, Americans will lose everything. Our money is tied to nothing of value and if it loses that world status, it will be worth nothing at all.
Its depressing. If I think about it too long it is hard for me to have hope for the future of my children. However, the future is our children and I will place hope in them. I believe that the eternal values we have sought to teach them will take hold in the face of adversity. Also, the world is not held together by any ruling class. It is God’s mercy that allows us to continue down a path of free will apart from Him. I hope and pray that His people will turn to Him in ferver and that we become once again, the salt and the light that preserves and guides our nation. As always, there is hope in God.
